Born 1979 in Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia), Matt opened North Shore Bike Shop in March, 2007.
Matt has been a passionate cyclist since he discovered the sport as a young child. With an extensive cycling background including BMX, trials, cross country, touring, commuting, dirt jumping, downhill racing, big hit freeriding, and of course North Shore freeriding, Matt has the necessary experience to ensure you will receive well-founded and well-tested advice.
Matt will not read you a scripted list of a component's attributes to tell you why it will work. He will listen to your needs and reflect on personal experience with the solutions available and make a recommendation based on real-world experience.
Matt has been a professional-level bicycle mechanic for 20 years and has been building wheels professionally for 15 of those years. Matt has literally thousands of wheel builds under his belt. You can be assured that wheels built at North Shore Bike Shop are laced with a level of experience not found in many craftsmen. Whether you are looking for ultra-light race wheels, or sturdy, budget-based wheels to take a decade of North Shore abuse, Matt and his staff will build you a product you can look back on years later with pride.
In business, Matt is a hands-on-deck business owner. He is not a bean-counter you will never see around the shop. He is equally passionate about tuning a department store bike, selling a top-end custom bike, or giving advice to visiting tourists about the local trails. You can find Matt at the shop most days, and ask about any issues, as he is directly involved will all aspects of the day-to-day workings at North Shore Bike Shop.
Outside of North Shore Bike Shop, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, and you are equally likely to find him digging at the local dirt jumps, participating in gruelling endurance races, or sending the gnarliest lines the North Shore has to offer. Matt loves riding with new friends, and is happy to join visiting groups and local shredders whenever possible.
Matt handles all email requests sent to the store so please feel free to send him any questions about any North Shore Bike Shop issue or life in general at:
